Packing List

Andrew's Packing list for 6 months in Europe
(my gear plus some things to share)
  
Carrying the gear
medium backpack on wheels (pack rain cover +2 combo padlocks)
- also carry pacsafe wire mesh that covers pack and can be locked to something solid
smaller pacsafe backpack (pack rain cover +2 combo padlocks)
- pacsafe backpack comes with a cut proof portable safe, wire & lock to something solid

clothes in 3 main dry bags of different colours
- shirts
- trousers/shorts
- others like socks, fleece, swimmers etc.

2 small dry bags
- clothes to be washed
- toiletry bag

2 large plastic containers
- electrical items & chargers etc.
- spare parts, games, clothes washing gear etc.

Clothes
light rain coat with umbrella in pocket for heavy downpours
sunhat
warm cap
3 long sleeve shirts
1 good shirt that can take a tie if necessary (flights & border crossings)
tie (races/cruise dinners etc.)
4 short sleeve shirts
4 undies (bushwalking type quick dry)
3 socks (bushwalking good quality)
2 running shorts + 2 running shirts for exercise/PJs
1 black quick dry pants
2 zip off pants/shorts
light fleece
light sleeveless fleece style jacket
swimmers
sandals
main walking boots - straight black Salomon (look OK great for lots of walking)

Electrical
computer & charger

iPod & charger with portable speaker & headphones
adapter for power sockets
power board with 3 sockets, surge protected + 2 USB outlets
- (can charge computer, razor, iPod and 2 phones all at once)
- (kindle, camera & portable speaker take turns)
jump drive (store files but also to take files for printing like reservations)

Food & Drink
200ml water bottle (so have something to fill up when walking)
600ml water bottle (for trains and for overnight)
2 plastic glasses
3 plastic plates
2 fork/spoon
1 sharp knife
f&v peeler
2 foldable plastic bottles designed for wine so can transport 1/2 bottle easily
corkscrew
wine stopper & pump

international drivers licence (must have Australian one too)

Money & Personal Safety
wallet on a chain
clip for small notes cash that can be given up if mugged
personal alarm on pacsafe belt tab with key to portable safe
wallet for ankle (when long pants are worn) for spare cash/cards/spare key
belt with zip for spare cash
RFID credit card holder in sewn in pocket on inside of shorts/trousers
clip on belt credit card holder for main card in paper RFID holder
paper RFID passport cover in sewn in pocket on inside of shorts/trousers
sew up pockets a bit so hands just fit to prevent pick pockets

Sundry
Travel SIM (plus take Australian SIM as need for SMS from bank etc.)
record message on answering machine and mobile before leaving
Sygic GPS navigation is fantastic (needs good phone) - no data plan needed
non slip mat for using Sygic phone GPS in car
cig lighter USB charger for use in car to charge phone/GPS
